Moving House

After eleven years of storing things in the basement, we concluded that we had boxes from our first two houses that had never been unpacked. Not only did we have boxes from before we were married, but we now had four other people’s childhood and college things in the basement.
The good part about going through all the boxes was the memories, and then giving things away. For example, we donated over 250 DVDs, clothes, and furniture to one of my favorite charities, Home of the Sparrow, which is the same charity to which we donated all our proceeds from “Spring into Second Chances Anthology.”

As I mentioned in my last blog, I packed up all of my bookcases from the living room, bedroom, and office, which occupied a significant portion of the first Pod. What I didn’t realize was that there were more books in the basement, to my husband’s dismay. We decided that I needed to donate some of the books. We donated ten boxes to charity and ten boxes to the library. That did leave me with thirty-nine boxes of books that are coming with us. Now I need more new bookcases for the new house. So excited!
I’m adjusting to not having all my books around me to keep me company. Luckily, I will be attending a few reader events with many authors. New books are bound to find their way here.
Remember to take care of yourself and read a new book!
Hugs,
Kat
