A Slow Day with No Expectations

I truly believe that taking a break to read a book with a cup of tea has healing qualities. The last few months have been crazy with moving, holidays, and a new job. Finding time for myself has been difficult.

I streamed the series Heated Rivalry. Surprisingly, three of my daughters watched as well and became fans of Rachel Reid and her books. When they found out I had all the books (since I had read them back in 2019), they wanted to read them at once.

One reason my daughters loved Heated Rivalry was that they wanted Shane and Ilya to defy all the odds and be together. Jacob Tierney did an amazing job staying true to the book, a romance featuring hockey-playing characters. The way he showed Shane and Ilya grow as people and fall in love was extraordinary.

At the beginning of the month, two of my daughters and I went to an event at Love's Sweet Arrow, a romance bookstore, where they had a Heated Rivalry trivia night. We made bracelets, answered trivia questions, not as fast as the first table, but our table did pretty well. Overall, Heated Rivalry has brought my daughters a new appreciation for the genre of books I read.

We all cannot wait for next season!
